V-commerce

V-commerce (Voice-Commerce) is a term coined by Nuance Communications, [1] as an umbrella term for the use of speech recognition to allow for voice activated services, including telephone dialing, internet browsing, and e-mail retrieval. Nuance founded, along with others, the V-Commerce Alliance to promote a framework for this service.

Although such devices usually have a limited, specialized vocabulary used for commands, use of v-commerce implies vocabulary that is more elaborate than saying "yes" or "no," or simply pronouncing a number. [2]
