Stäfa

Stäfa is a municipality in the district of Meilen in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland.

It is located near Rapperswil on the north bank of the lake of Zurich. In the local dialect it is called Stäfe.

The villages of Kehlhof and Uerikon are politically part of the town. Stäfa is linked with the German poet Goethe who once stayed overnight in the town. It was named after the Scottish island of Staffa by a monk from Iona.[1]

The town is well known for its cultural centre Rössli, located near the lake shore. Wine production is still important, particularly white wine (Riesling).
