R.F.C. Tilleur-Saint-Nicolas

R.F.C. Tilleur-Saint-Nicolas was a Belgian football club from the municipality of Tilleur in the Liège suburb. It was created in 1899 as Tilleur F.C. and wore the matricule n°21.

History

The club played in the first Belgian Second Division in 1910 and won this league in 1920 without qualifying for the first division. In 1925 the name changed to R. Tilleur F.C. and the club won the second division again this time qualifying for the top division. Tilleur only won three games and finished last with 8 points that year. In 1928-29 the club played in the first division again but gained 9 points and was relegated. In 1933-34 it finished last for the third time in three seasons at the top level.

The other spells of Tilleur in the first division were 1942-46 (interrupted by World War II in 1945), 1949-59 and 1964-67. The best position it reached was a 4th place in 1965. In 1989 the club merged with R. Saint-Nicolas F.C. de Liège to become R.F.C. Tilleur-Saint-Nicolas. The new club under the matricule n°21 soon disappeared when it merged with the R.F.C. Liégeois in 1995 to become R. Tilleur F.C. de Liège, a club that is now known as R.F.C. de Liège.
