The Iranian grading system is similar to that of Belgium's in secondary schools and universities; the passing grade is 10. Graduate programs require 12 as passing grade:

Grade	Qualification
18-20	Excellent
16-17	Very Good
13-15	Sufficient
10-12	Poor but Passing
9 & below	Fail
