Infobox disclaimer and references

4,4'-Biphenol, systematically known as 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl, consists of 2 aromatic hydrocarbons bonded together, each bonded to a hydroxyl group.

4,4'-Biphenol is harmful in contact with skin, and irritating to the eyes and respiratory system. Upon decomposition, it can form harmful gases like carbon monoxide and dioxide. It should not be stored with strong oxidising agents.

4,4-Biphenol is manufactured on a large scale by the oxidation and then reduction of 2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol followed by de-akylation.
