2 Mai

2 Mai (IPA[doj maj]) is a village in the Limanu commune, Constanţa County, Romania, and a small resort on the shore of the Black Sea, between Mangalia and Vama Veche.

The village was founded by Mihail Kogălniceanu in 1887 under the name Două Mai. Its first inhabitants were Russians from Bucharest, Iaşi and Galaţi. Later Lipovans from Tulcea County and Romanians from Argeş County settled here.

The main occupation of the villagers is the agritourism, fishing, tourism and agriculture.

The village of 2 Mai has recently become known in Romania as a resort for middle-aged people and youngsters in search of a quiet place on the seaside. It also benefits from being close to Vama Veche, a very popular resort for Romanian youngsters.

As a resort, 2 Mai does not feature any hotels. Accommodation can be made in local villagers houses or by camping. While there are several restaurants, there are no night clubs.
