RAL CLASSIC

That Realm committee for terms of delivery compiled together 1927 a color chart (ral color collection), in order to assign to a color a clear number. Originally the table consisted only of 40 colors, later became it on approx. 210 colors supplements. The advantage is that between Customer and Supplier more a ral number and no color pattern to be only exchanged must.

Around 1940 the conversion of the RAL-Farben to the system four digit took place, how it is common until today. Camouflage colors of the army one recognized 7 until 1944 always by one „“or „8 “in the first place.

There are thereby still differences between halfmatte (ral 840-HR colour register) and shining (ral 841-GL colour register) colors.

Heavy metals such as lead, cadmium and chromates are excluded.

RAL DESIGN

Contrary to the arbitrary numbers in the older ral color system the colors are systematically arranged according to Buntton (H, Hue), brightness (L, Lightness) and multicoloredness (C, Chroma).

The structure of the ral Design color system follows that 1976 of the CIE (Commission international d'Eclairage) fixed internationally used Lab- Color system of units. A is the red green axle (negative values for green, positive values for red), b the yellow blue axle (negative values for blue, positive values for yellow) and L the brightness. The point of grey or neutral point is with A = b = 0.

That CIELab- Formalism is described in the DIN 6174.

RAL DIGITAL

In order to give architects and designers the possibility, the systems ral CLASSIC of using ral DESIGN and ral EFFECT directly in its working environment became also RAL DIGITAL a software solution develops, which permits it to load the RAL-Farben directly into the usual diagram and CAD programs.
