That Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı (briefly: Diyanet), German: Presidency for religious affairs, is in that Turkey a state institution for the administration of religious affairs. October 1923 that Kalifat. 1924 eliminated Turkey the religious courts and 1925 became in the course of a comprehensive „dress reform “that Fes and that Veil forbidden and those Koedukation introduced. In the same year those became Islamic time calculation by that Gregorian calendar replaced as well as that metric system introduced.

In the following years whole became Juridical systems from European countries taken over and Turkish conditions adapted. 1928 became those Secularization proclaimed and in the same year those Arab writing by those Latin replaced. In the course of further reforms the active became in Turkey 1930 Woman right to vote introduced - since 1934 may itself place to women also to the choice (passive woman right to vote). Only few of the reforms, about Atatürks idea that in the mosques instead of on Arab on Turkish should be only gebetet, proved as impracticable and were taken back.

Laizisierung

Despite all attempts the meaning that Religion for the society on the laizistischen level to weaken, the faith remained an important component in the Turkish society. The danger rose even that those Religion by circles to be instrumentalisiert could, on which the state did not have influence. Therefore 1924 became that Office for religious affairs based. With this institution the state wanted to control the religion. Therefore the Turkish form of the Laizismus is less a separation between state and religion, but rather a subordination of the religion under the state.

Structure

The Diyanet in Ankara has the following head departments: Religious services (DIN Hizmet Dairesi), religious education (DIN Eğitim Dairesi), barrier travel natures (Haç Dairesi), religious publications (Dinî Yayınlar Dairesi) and external relations (Dış İlişkiler Dairesi).
